The Romanian cement market is reported to have grown 8.0 per cent in 2005 compared to 2004 due to the high number of supply contracts for the reconstruction of buildings damaged by floods, the cement industry employers association
CIROM’s president, Mihai Rohan, said on December 7, 2005. The cement market was worth Euro 300m of sales in 2004.

The local cement producers forecast a 5.0 per cent growth of the cement market for 2006. However it could rise to 10 per cent in 2006 if the local producers are to be involved in larger projects such as reconstruction of infrastructure damaged
by floods in 2005, Rohan added.
