Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. said Thursday it has received an order from Chinese cement giant China Anhui Conch Group for facilities to produce electricity by using waste heat generated by cement plants. Under the deal, Kawasaki Heavy will supply such facilities for installation at eight cement plants operated by the Chinese company, mostly located in Anhui and Zhejiang Provinces, by January 2008. The Japanese firm will be responsible for overseeing the installation work as well as designing and delivering the facilities. The power-generation facilities will have a total output capacity of 189,000kW. Although the value of the deal was not disclosed, it is believed to be worth more than 10 billion yen. Kawasaki Heavy hopes to use the latest deal as a spring board for clinching more such orders in China, company officials said.
