Cemex said it would invest up to US$130m to install a new clinker production line to boost production at its San Pedro de Macorís plant in the Dominican Republic, newspaper Listín Diario reported.  The investment would enable the plant to boost production to 2.2Mt of clinker a year from the current 600,000tpa, saving an estimated US$70m in clinker imports, the report said.  The San Pedro de Macorís plant would become Cemex’s largest cement production facility in the Caribbean and the seventh biggest of the company’s 53 plants worldwide.
