Cement exports through the customs of the eastern Chinese port of Longkou, Shandong province, stood at 826,000t in the period January to mid-November 2005, up 176 per cent year-on-year. The value of exported cement totalled $25.8m, up 225 per cent year-on-year. The cement was exported in more than 50 shipments.
Unlike previous years when cement exports were heading mainly to Southeast Asia, export destinations in 2005 were diversified to include also Africa and the Middle East.
Production of Longkou-based cement company Shandong Conglin Group increased in 2005 with the installing of a new 2500tpd kiln. After the new facility was put into operation, the annual cement production in Longkou has reached over 4Mt.
