The cement sector expects to produce 29 million tonnes this year, up 9.5-10 per cent against last year’s figure, according to the Vietnam Cement Corporation. In the first ten months of 2005, the sector produced and sold more than 23Mt, accounting for 78 per cent of this year’s targeted figure. Currently, there is quite a large reserve of cement and clinker, about 1.6Mt. Demand for cement is forecast to increase in the last two months of the year. Domestic cement prices are stable, at VND 720,000-760,000 a tonne in northern provinces and VND 840,000-940,000 a tonne in the south.
