Wolfgang Bauer, head of Dyckerhoff in Germany has said that the proposed January 2006 increase of eight Euros per tonne, a rise of 15 per cent on prevailing levels, is a definite requirement, noting that a cement price of a little over Euro 50 per tonne is not adequate. Bauer explained the price hike with a rise in the electricity costs. According to news sources, other domestic German cement producers are also considering possible price increases, with HeidelbergCement said to be aiming at increasing its prices to more than Euro 60 per tonne.
