Semen Tonasa is planning to invest at least Rp 2.5 trillion to increase its production capacity as well as build a new plant in Pangkep, said the company’s newly elected President Director, Drs. Sattar Taba, adding that the investment will be executed upon the completion of a feasibility study on the plan. Taba said that PT Vista had won a tender, held by Semen Tonasa’s shareholders, to construct the new plant.
The new plant will be built next to Semen Tonasa’s other plants in Pangkep and is expected to start operating in 2009. When asked about cement price increase, Taba admitted that an increase of seven per cent has been imposed since 1 October 2005.
