Three cement plants worth a total $500m will be built in southern Yemen in joint Saudi-Yemeni projects. According to forecasts, their capacity will be 3Mta. Reportedly, the three plants are the first project in the field of cement production jointly financed by Saudi and Yemeni organisations.
Yemen’s cement output stood at 1,541,352t in 2003, while sales of locally produced cement reached 1,540,308t worth 16.4bn rials (US$84.7m), the Yemeni News Digest reported earlier this year.
