Cement industry is expected to grow 10 per cent by the end of this year, when compared with the previous year, Ismail Erkovan, the Director General of Adana Cement Industry, said on Monday.
Erkovan told A.A correspondent that 23Mt of cement was produced in 2003. ’’Amount of cement produced in Turkey climbed to 30Mt last year. And, we hope Turkey will manufacture 33-34Mt of cement by the end of this year.’’
According to Erkovan, Adana Cement Industry has produced around 1.5Mt of cement in the first half of 2005.
’’We are exporting 50 per cent of our overall production. We export 65 per cent of our products to Iraq, which is under reconstruction, and 20 percent to Syria. The rest 15 perc ent is sold to European countries,’’ added Erkovan.
