Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has praised officials and workers for their efforts to accelerate the construction of the Hai Phong Cement Factory, a key State project.
In a visit to the construction site in the northern port city’s Thuy Nguyen District on Sunday, Dung reminded officials and workers that it was important to keep construction on schedule but warned against compromising quality or safety.
The project will have a cement production capacity of 1.4Mta, with total capital of over US$200m, provided by the Viet Nam Cement Corporation.
Construction is nearing completion, and the factory is expected to produce its first clinker batch by the end of the year. It will replace the city’s existing cement factory, which has been operating for more than 100 years.
The new facility is expected to create thousands of jobs.
