Sabanci Holding, Turkey’s second business group, is interested in opening a cement factory in Romania with a $150m investment and an estimated capacity of one 1Mta, Bucharest Daily News reported.

The president of the Administration Council, Guler Sabanci, met Economy and Commerce minister Codrut Seres on Thursday in Bucharest and solicited the support of this institution for this green-field operation. Sabanci also aims to become involved in marketing domestic or imported electrical energy. Guler Sabanci is conducting a delegation of Turkish investors who are searching for business opportunities in Romania.

The Turkish group own more than 70 companies with activities in fields like textiles, cement or energy. Among the projects presented by Seres are the construction of a submarine cable between Turkey and Romania for delivery of electricity.
