In the first three months of 2005, Russian cement enterprises produced 7.8Mt of cement, up 3.0% year-on-year. In the same quarter, the Eurocement Group produced about 1.9Mt of cement, thus matching its 1Q2004 level.
Eurocement Group, Russia’s biggest cement holding company, now controls 20 per cent of the Russian and 60 per cent of the Moscow cement market. The group incorporates six cement makers, such as Maltsovsky Portlandcement (the Bryansk region), Mikhailovcement (the Ryazan region), Lipetskcement, the Savinsky Cement Factory (the Arkhangelsk region), Nevyansky Cementnik (the Sverdlovsk region), Katavsky Cement (the Chelyabinsk region), and Kavkazcement (Northern Caucasus). The group controls from 75% to 100% of these business shares, including through the Eurocement Company, which is a sales subsidiary of the group. In spring 2005, Eurocement bought seven factories (with an aggregate output of 7.5Mt of cement) from Inteco, increasing its capacity to at least 21.5Mta cement.
