Slovak building materials producer Holcim (Slovensko) posted a loss of 72m Slovak crowns (US$2.4m) for 2004.

Holcim (Slovensko) loss for 2004 was mainly due to the large investments of nearly 2.5bn crowns (US$81.9m) in a two-stage modernisation project at the company’s plant in Rohoznik, western Slovakia.

Holcim (Slovensko) generated a revenue of 3.3bn crowns (US$108.2m) from the sales of own products and services for 2004, down by
nearly four per cent YoY.

The company’s cement output decreased by nine  per cent YoY to 1.16Mt for the period. Most of the output was sold on the domestic market and 25 per cent were exported.

Holcim (Slovensko) white cement sales rose by more than 11 pct year-on-year to 102,000t. The company’s white cement exports accounted for 94 per cent of its white cement sales. Concrete sales increased by six per cent YoY to 417,000m3.
