Bolivia’s overall cement production increased 18 per cent in January compared to the same period in 2004, government news agency ABI reported, citing national statistics office INE.  Bolivia attributes the majority of the increase to extra output from factories in the central departments of La Paz and Chuquisaca. Indeed, Chuquisaca upped production by 33 per cent to 31,186t from 23,434t in January last year, while La Paz cement output grew 18.9 per cent to 27,963t from 23,515t.  Cochabamba department meanwhile reported a 14.3 per cent increase in production to 22,691t from 19,859t. Santa Cruz department registered an 11.4 per cent growth in output from 16,605t to 18,404t in January 2005.  Cement production in Oruro grew 5.39 per cent to 8,383t in the period while Tarija’s output rose 4.2 per cent to 8,831t.
