Nearly 950,000t of cement has been sold in overseas markets since March, the deputy commerce minister said in Tehran on Saturday. English-language paper `Iran Daily` quoted Hassan Youness Sinaki as saying that the ministry has received investment applications for production of 27Mt of cement and has opened credits for production of 14Mt. The official also ruled out the possibility of shortage of supply this year, saying the sector has already achieved its annual projection. "Through a further boost in domestic production, we hope to attain complete balance in market supply and demand and thus do away with imports.” Iran also has the potential to boost production and increase cement export to European countries, the Middle East as well as Mediterranean countries which are good markets for cement.
