During a visit to Kogi State, President Olusegun Obasanjo on 9 February
commended the Dangote Group of Companies for building the ultra-modern
Obajana Cement Company, which is considered the largest in Africa.
He also acknowledged Dangote’s contributions towards the overall growth of
the Nigerian economy.
Obasanjo toured the Cement Company along with Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, the
Governor of Kogi State and Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote
Group of Companies.
During the tour, he expressed satisfaction with the huge edifice, especially
as it has the potential to woo foreign investors.
Obasanjo went on to order the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA)
Managing Director, Mr Joseph Makoju to provide a 250 megawatt station that
would ease the Cement Company’s dependence on a diesel generator.
