Turkish cement and clinker producer Batisoke Cimento registered a YoY rise in net profit for 2004. The rise is explained by the fact that the company’s results are adjusted to inflation in addition to increased clinker production due to better efficiency.
The company reported an operating profit of TRL5.105m (US$3.8m) for 2004, up from TRL47,600 (US$35,000) for 2003. Its sales grew by 10 per cent YoY in 2004.
Batisoke produced 914,000t of clinker in 2004, compared to 800,000t in the previous year. The company exported 468,000t of clinker in 2004, up 11 per cent YoY. The company’s sales on the domestic market in 2004 broke even YoY.
The company, which has a capacity of 1.25Mt of cement a year, expects higher domestic demand in 2005, compared to 2004. Batisoke plans to reduce clinker exports in 2005 in order to meet rising demand for cement on the local market.
