The largest cement producer in Slovakia, Holcim Slovensko, a.s, Rohoznik, assumes that it closed the year 2004 in the red based on initial estimates. The company already closed the first half of the year with a loss. ÅgIn particular modernization of the Rohoznik plant, within which the company’s investments amounted to about SKK 2.5bn, was behind the company’s financial performance last year,Åh Marek Michlik from Holcim Slovensko told SITA. Last September Holcim completed the first modernization phase when it launched operation of a new rotating kiln Investments into this project amounted to SKK2bn. The company plans to complete the second phase of modernization at its production plant in Rohoznik in March. The company will install new technology to improve usage of alternative fuels, save electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The cement producer closed the first half of 2004 with a loss of SKK 26.9 million, which was mostly attributed to a loss from financial operations. The H1 output amounted to SKK1493bn and sales of its own products and services were SKK 2.747 million lower. Production costs were SKK1.224bn. During the first half of 2004 the company generated added value of SKK274.3m. At the end of June 2004 total assets for the Slovak Holcim amounted to SKK 6.606bn, out of which fixed assets made up eighty percent.
