Lafarge Boral Gypsum in Asia (LBGA) plans to invest about $30m to double its plasterboard manufacturing capacity in China, Lafarge said in a statement. The group will build two new plants, one in Shanghai and one in Chongqing to double annual capacity to over 70Mm2, to keep up with a sustained market growth in China of more than 15 percent per year in the last 5 years, it said. The Chongqing plant should be operational in the third quarter of 2005 and the Shanghai plant in the first quarter of 2006. Published under Cement News
