Peru’s overall cement sales in 2004 rose 9.3 per cent to 4,541,978t in 2004 from the 4,154,365t sold in the previous year, the National Association of Cement Producers, or Asocem, said Monday.  Peru’s cement output, an indicator of domestic demand, has been rising alongside output in the construction sector. Peru’s construction sector expanded by 4.43 per cent in the January-November period in 2004 compared to the same period a year earlier.  In December, overall cement sales rose 6.8 per cent to 391,883t from the 366,934t sold in the same month a year before, Asocem added.  A month earlier, overall cement sales totaled 381,250t.  Cementos Lima sold 2,145,818t of cement in 2004, making it Peru’s largest cement maker, the association said.
