Hungarian construction company Strabag Rt may start the construction of a cement plant in Kiralyegyhaza, southern Hungary, worth around US$140m, it was reported on January 13, 2005.  Strabag, a subsidiary of the Austrian sector company Bau Holding, earlier planned to build the plant in Bukkosd, southern Hungary, but local residents rejected the plan twice in a plebiscite held in August 2004 even though the local authorities strongly supported the idea.   The plant in Bukkosd would have created some 200 jobs, would have produced 800,000t of cement annually. The local authorities and the citizens of Kiralyegyhaza unanimously have supported this latest project.
