Portuguese cement producer Secil is studying the option to change its electricity provider, the Portuguese utility EDP - Energias de Portugal, with a Spanish provider, it was reported on December 16, 2004.   Currently Secil, which is among Portugal’s largest electricity consumers, is reportedly studying two Spanish companies to put in place of EDP. The company did not identify the possible providers. Portugal’s 10 largest electricity consumers annually pay EDP some Euro100m ($134.08m).  The Spanish energy companies, which directly operate on the Portuguese market, are Iberdrola and Endesa.
