The Sabah Economic Development Corp (Sedco) is embarking on a massive expansion programme involving some of its 19 subsidiaries. Sedco chairman Datuk Mohd Lan Alani said the expansion programme will include the construction of a clinker plant in Sepanggar.  The construction of the plant is necessary because Cement Industries Sabah, a subsidiary of Sedco, has been importing clinker for its cement plant in Sepanggar.

The State Government has approved the construction of the plant and we hope to commence the project by early next year, Mohd Lan said. Sedco is also looking into improving the production capacity of another subsidiary, Associated Concrete Products Sabah, which is involved in making culvert and concrete piles. "For next year alone, we are looking at creating employment for at least 500 people," he said.
