Cement output in Mexico is up more than four per cent in the first nine months of the year, rising to meet demand from a buoyant housing sector and more public works in a recovering economy.

According to figures released on Monday by the National Cement Chamber, the 11.84 per cent rise in output in September was the strongest monthly increase so far this year.

Mexico’s industrial production rose 5.5 per cent in September, aided by a 8.5 per cent leap in construction activity.
