Spanish cement maker Cementos Alfa has invested Euro12m in raw material milling at its clinker plant in Mataporquera, Cantabria region, northern Spain, it was reported on November 11, 2004. The milling is in line with Cementos Alfa policy to renovate its installations. The company expects that the new milling will allow to reduce the electricity consumption for the stone milling process at the plant by 10 per cent and to increase the environmentally friendly practices in the factory. The new milling will also be less noisy than the previous one. The new installation responds to the recommendations for technological innovation by the Spanish Ministry of Industry. The milling started operating on November 1, 2004.
Cementos Alfa posted a net attributable profit of Euro 8.2m for the first half of 2004, a 29.6 per cent year-on-year increase. Cementos Alfa’s turnover increased 11.6 per cent year-on-year to Euro38.3m for January to June 2004. Cementos Alfa has a share capital of Euro 6.75m distributed between 2,251,032 shares. The company is listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
