India’s infrastructure output growth picked up in September, although the pace of expansion was slower compared with the year-ago month. Infrastructure output rose 5.9% on year in September, faster than a rise of 4.4% in August but slower compared with the 7.9% gain in September last year, government data issued Tuesday show. A continued recovery in electricity production and robust output in the coal and cement sectors led the overall growth in September. For April-September, the first six months of the current fiscal year, infrastructure output was up 5.7%, a tad faster than the 5.4% rise in the previous year.
