Spanish cement maker Goliat, a subsidiary of Italian sector company Italcementi, will invest Euro 80m ($102.2 mln) in the modernisation of its factory in Malaga, Andalusia region, southern Spain, it was reported on October 22, 2004.  The investments are aimed at reducing thermal power consumption by 14 per cent, cutting the anhydride emissions by 7.0 per cent, dust particle emissions by 68 per cent and greenhouse gas emissions by 15 per cent. The company will install a new kiln, a new vertical mill, cooling, filtering and supplementary equipment, as well as a quality monitoring laboratory. The modernisation works will be carried out by by Chinese engineering company CBMI between July 2005 and July 2006.
