Turkish cement producer Cimsa will invest US$30m in the enlargement of its factory in Kayseri, central Turkey. The company plans to set up a rock crusher, mill and a kiln at the plant which will cut costs and secure annual production of between 800,000t and 1Mt of cement. The project will be launched in October 2004. At present, the Kayseri plant carries out cement grinding and packing operations.

Cimsa, which has cement and ready-mix concrete production, storage and packing facilities in Mersin, Kayseri and Malatya, is part of the cement division of Turkish industrial conglomerate Sabanci Holding. Apart from Cimsa, the division comprises Akcansa, Oysa and Karcimsa. The four companies employ a total of 1,650.
