Pavilion Technologies, a world leader in advanced process control (APC) and environmental compliance solutions, has installed its multi-variable model predictive control cement solution on a pre-calciner dry kiln for San Antonio, Texas-based Capitol Aggregates, Ltd. (Capitol Cement). Initial data from the project shows improvements consistent with those of previous installations of Pavilion’s solution on two multi-grade cement mills at the facility.
"Pavilion’s control solutions continue to deliver measurable results that have a definite impact on our plant’s profitability," said Tom Spaits, plant manager for Capitol Cement. "Pavilion delivers a solution with a short implementation time and a quick return on investment." Since commissioning in May, Capitol has realized the following benefits from the dry kiln project: Improved process stability that allows for maximum utilization of production capacity; Reduced energy consumption; and Decreased NOx emissions.
Capitol Cement has a production capacity of 900,000 tons per year and uses state-of-the-art equipment to deliver premium quality cement products to its customers. Based in San Antonio, Texas, Capitol Cement is affiliated with Zachry Construction Corporation.
