Moctezuma’s Cerritos plant to double capacity in 2006, Mexico

Mexican cement company Corporación Moctezuma will launch a second, 1.3Mta cement production line in 2006 at its newly inaugurated plant in Cerritos, San Luis Potosí state, a company official said.

Construction of the US$90m line began in May, while Moctezuma officially opened the US$150m Cerritos plant end-July that has one 1.3Mta production line in operation.

Moctezuma posted first half sales of 1.68bn (US$147m), up 8.3 per cent from 1H03, while net profit fell 11.2 per cent  to MXP454m pesos largely due to unfavorable exchange rates.

The company also has production plants in Tepetzingo and Jiutepec, both in Morelos state.
