Cement production increased 8.49 per cent to 10.22Mt in July 2004 from 9.42Mt in the same month one year previous. Dispatches also rose by 8.76 per cent to 10.06Mt from 9.25Mt during the review period, according to the latest updates of Cement Manufacturers’Association. Production recorded 4.22 per cent increase in April-July 2004 to 40.99Mt from 39.33Mt in the same period last year. Dispatches also rose 3.86 per cent to 40.66Mt from 39.15Mt in the four-month review period.
The capacity utilisation for the cement industry stood at 82 per cent in July 2004 as against 79 per cent a year ago. Total installed capacity of the industry stood at 146.38Mt at the beginning of the current fiscal 2004-05.
Cement export posted a 22 per cent growth at 0.33Mt last month as compared
to 0.27Mt a year ago, while clinker export grew by 67 per cent to 0.35Mt
from 0.21Mt
