PT Semen Padang, based in Padang in West Sumatra, plans to export 1.35Mt of cement this year, including 500,000t of clinker. Exports will shipped to other Asian countries, South Africa and Europe, a company spokesman Erizal Bakar said.  Based on data at the trade office in West Sumatra, cement exported by the company declined in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year.  Exports in the first three months of this year were valued at US$4.1 million, down from US$5.94 million in the same period last year.  Bakar said exports have been hampered by difficulty in transport because of limited number of ships calling at Padang port.
