Cemex has  posted earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) in Colombia of US$34m (EUR27.3m), up 15 per cent YoY  the first half of 2004.

The company posted US$58m sales from its operations in Colombia for the period, up 17 per cent. The volume of cement sales in Colombia rose 11 per cent, while the volume of concrete sales increased 24 per cent.

Cemex consolidated net profit decreased to US$247m compared to US$309m. The company’s consolidated net sales rose to US$1.948bn, compared to US$1.855bn. Cemex’ cement sales remained flat on the same period of 2003, at 16.8Mt , while the volume of concrete sales rose nine per cent to 6.1Mm3. The company’s sales in Mexico fell three pct, in the USA rose by 11 per cent, in Spain increased by 10 per cent, in Venezuela rose by four per cent in Central America and the Caribbean rose by one per cent in Asia went up four per cent.  Cemex sales in Egypt rose most in the period, up 54 per cent.
