Cement sales in Cyprus totalled 761,400t in the first half of 2004, up from 630,900t for the same period of 2003. Cement sales on the island reached 151,200t in June 2004 alone, compared to 117,400t in the same month of 2003. The expected 15 per cent increase in real estate prices in Cyprus in the next 10 months will follow the deregulation in cement prices, which will grow by up to 10 per cent, officials of the sector announced in late May 2004. Cement prices together with the rise in fuel prices are expected to have serious impact on Cypriot real estate industry.
