The three ports of Colombian cement producer Grupo Caribe on the Caribbean coast and its cement and clinker transportation fleet have received International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) certification, according to local news reports.

The ISPS code came into effect July 1. Certification means that the company has no obstacles to exporting its cement and clinker products to the international market, according to executive president Eric Flesch Santoro.

The ports of Colclinker, Cementos Caribe and Golfo de Morrosquillo were certified by Dimar, the director general for maritime and ports.

In March, Grupo Caribe announced a 46bn-peso (US$17m) spending plan to upgrade its Cementos del Caribe, Colclinker and Tolcemento plants this year in the cities of Barranquilla, Tolu and Cartagena to optimize production and increase exports.
