Indonesia’s largest cement maker PT Semen Gresik said its total cement sales in the first five months of this year rose 15% on year to 5.91Mt from 5.15Mt, due to an increase in domestic sales and exports.

 

Semen Gresik’s domestic cement sales during the period rose 16 per cent to 5.08Mt, from 4.38Mt in the same period last year.

 

Its cement exports gained 7.3% on year to 825,127t in the January to May period from 769,174t.

 

Semen Gresik did not comment on its sales performance. The Indonesian government owns 5 per cent of the company, and Mexico’s Cemex SA de CV has a 25.53 per cent stake.

 

According to data from Indonesia’s cement producers association, national cement sales in the first five months of this year rose 8.9 per cent to 11.24Mt from 10.32Mt a year earlier.
