Peru’s domestic cement sales increased 3.6 per cent month-on-month to 303,613t in May 2004, the National Association of Cement Makers (Asocem) has said.
May 2004 Peru’s overall cement sales, including exports, fell 1.5 per cent YoY to 340,113t.
Six Peruvian cement companies supplied the local market over the period. Cementos Lima registered the largest market share of 44 pct in May 2004, followed by Cemento Andino with 21 pct, Cementos Pacasmayo with 18 per cent, Cemento Yura with 12 pct, Cemento Sur with three per cent, and Cemento Selva with two per cent/
The sales of Cementos Lima and Cemento Andino showed strong increases YoY in May 2004, due to the strong cement demand for the construction sector. Cement sales for the construction sector increased 12.3 per cent YoY in May 2004, boosted by both public and private investments in the sector, and by the construction of the Olmos-Corral Quemado highway.
