Cement demand in Spain stood at 19.4Mt in the first five months of 2004, up 2.4 per cent YoY, Spanish Cement Makers Association OFICEMEN have said.
Cement consumption in Spain totalled 46.7Mt in the 12 months to May 2004, a 4.4 per cent increase from the 12 months to May 2003.
Spanish cement makers produced 18.8Mt of cement, a rise of 4.5 per cent YoY. Imports of cement and clinker increased 1.1 per cent to 3.1Mt, while Spanish cement exports rose 17.3 per cent to 605,620t.
In May 2004 alone, cement production in Spain stood at 4.1Mt, up 5.1 per cent YoY exports rose 15.3 per cent YoY, and imports dropped 11.5 per cent YoY to 609,720t.
