Mexican cement giant Cemex expects to increase its sales volume in the US market by five per cent, considering that growth for this segment has already expanded three per cent thanks to its acquisition of the Illinois-based plant Dixon finalized during the third quarter of last year, reported an analyst.
"[Cemex] is looking at more or less a two per cent increase in volume this year," explained the specialist who recently met with the company’s vice president of Corporate Finances, Rodrigo Treviño.
The growth opportunity that the US market represents is based on two segments that have yet to be fully developed:industrial and commercial construction and the building of highways. Regarding the second, new authorisations relating to infrastructure development are expected to boost demand in the US market this year.
