India’s cement consumption grew by 6 per cent in 2003/04, even as the northern state of Uttaranchal recorded a prodigious 20 per cent growth, a sign of impressive increase in construction activities
in the state.  Karnataka and Jharkhand occupied the second spot with 15 per cent consumption growth in 2003/04 while Delhi recorded 14 per cent growth, according to the latest data compiled by the Cement Manufacturers’ Association.
