Domestic cement consumption in 2004 is estimated to remain at the same level as last year or may increase by, at most, just one per cent, Director of PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa (ITP), Thomas Kern, said here Tuesday. He also explained that in some Asian cement producing countries such as Thailand, Taiwan and the Philipines, cement industries still had excessive production capacities. Therefore, he said, the export market this year would not be much different from last year so that Indocement would continue to focus on its traditional export destinations such as African countries, Bangladesh and Cambodia.
