Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) presently offers the lowest cement price of 185 Qatari riyals (US$50.8/t) in the Gulf region, according to report’s from the company’s shareholders’ meeting on 7 March 2004.
In the remaining Gulf countries, one tonne of cement currently costs about 250 riyals (US$68.7/55.4 euro). Due to the higher prices on the foreign markets, QNCC targets to completely meet the growing local demand through local production and by using its strategic reserves. The company’s daily sales of cement vary between 5000t and 6000t.
QNCC’s sales reached 1.5Mt of cement in 2003, compared to 1.4Mt in 2002. Sales of hydrated lime and quicklime rose to 28,600t from 27,400t. QNCC income climbed to 299m riyals (US$82.1m) from 242m riyals (US$66.5m).
