Katavsky Cement has produced 47,000t of cement since it was put back into operation at the end of January. This represents a third of the plant’s full-year output in 2003. The plant also began selling bagged cement. Efforts are currently under way to bring into operation all available capacities: three out of four furnaces are currently in operation. Idle since last October, the plant was brought back into operation at the end of January. Following the last year acquisition by Eurocement-affiliated companies, it managed to clear wage arrears, to restructure the budget debt, fuel and electricity debts. In the first quarter, plans call for manufacturing 180,000t of cement. The rated capacity of Katavsky Cement is 1.55Mt.
