The Waltham, Massachusetts headquarters of Holcim (US) Inc is participating in a year-long community service initiative to mark the centennial anniversary of its parent company, Holcim Ltd.

Holcim (US) is celebrating this 100-year anniversary by participating in Together for Communities, an initiative in which Holcim employees lead local volunteer projects.

"Our employees at the Holcim headquarters have responded with vigor to the challenge of Together for Communities," said Bernard Terver, president and chief executive officer of Holcim (US). "They have planned projects that target education, the environment, and the community. I commend the Waltham employees and look forward to seeing the results of their efforts."

Waltham employees have planned numerous events focused on education, youth engagement and local sustainability. In May and June, volunteers plan on preparing dinner for students, staff and graduates at the Epiphany School in Dorchester, MA and helping 5th and 6th graders with homework assignments. Holcim has also planned several reading events at the Natick Public Schools, where Holcim will provide a book to each student, and a copy of each of these books to the school's library.

On April 21st, Holcim volunteers will lead a 2012 Earth Day Charles River Clean Up in Newton, MA. Holcim volunteers will also serve lunch at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans in Boston, MA during the months of June and October.
