Vicem sales up 14.8% in first four months, Vietnam

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sold 6.94Mt of cement and clinker in the first four months of this year, rising by 14.8 per cent YoY.

Of the total, 6.9Mt of cement and clinker was sold in the domestic market, up 21.7 per cent YoY, while 41,000t of cement was exported, a rise of nine per cent, the corporation said on its website late Wednesday.

In April, the corporation sold 1.94Mt of cement and clinker, up 3.7 per cent YoY, of which 1.5Mt of cement and 377,000t of clinker were sold in the domestic market while 10,000t of cement and 49,000t of clinker were exported.

Vicem also produced 5.45Mt of clinker and 5.34Mt of cement between January and April, up 18.3 per cent and 10.4 per cent YoY respectively, including 1.36Mt of clinker and 1.74Mt of cement in April, rising by 16.2 per cent and 12.1 per cent YoY, respectively.

In May, Vicem aims to produce 1.79Mt of cement and 1.47Mt of clinker. Its cement and clinker sales are expected to reach 2.01Mt this month.

The corporation also targets its cement and clinker sales at 2.01Mt, with 60,000t of cement and clinker exported.

Last year, Vicem sold 20.4 million tons of cement and clinker, rising by 8.8 per cent YoY and fulfilling 96.4 per cent of its full-year target.

The corporation made a net profit of VND660trn in 2012, up 36 per cent on-year, despite lower domestic demand and economic difficulties.
