Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico during June 2013 were about 7.6Mt, down slightly from the same month of the year before, data from the US Geological Survey shows. Shipments through the year were 37.2Mt, essentially unchanged.
The leading Portland cement producing states in June were Texas, Missouri, California, Michigan and Florida, in descending order and these accounted for about 45 per cent of total shipments for the month. The leading consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Illinois, in descending order) received about 36 per cent of the June total shipments.
Clinker production totaled about 6.3Mt in June, essentially unchanged from output in June 2012. Production for the year through to June was 32.4Mt, up slightly. The leading clinker-producing states in June were Missouri, Texas, California, Florida and Pennsylvania in descending order and these states accounted for 50 per cent of the June total output.
June imports of cement and clinker of about 776,000t were nine per cent more than those in June 2012. Imports for the year through June totaled 3.29Mt, up by nearly six per cent.
