Cement sales in Morocco during January 2014 experienced a significant fall of 12.9 per cent YoY to 1Mt. The decrease has been attributed to continued rainfall which affected construction projects.
However, the rate of YoY decline has slowed compared with the 25 per cent drop recorded in 2013 when sales fell from 1.58Mt in January 2012 to 1.17Mt. As a result, the industry expects a gradual recovery to take hold in 2014, closing the year with a potential market expansion of up to five per cent.
