Cement prices in India increased throughout the country with the exception of the south due to high inventories in the region. On the other hand, prices in the north saw the highest increases due to supply constraints.
A report by Money Control (India) stated that the national price was INR304/bag in February compared to INR294/bag the month before. The February increment is the second consecutive monthly increase.
Overall, cement prices in the country increased by INR10/bag. Prices in the western, eastern and central regions rose by INR10/bag, INR9/bag and INR19/bag respectively. Prices in the north rose by INR31/bag compared to January due to the stoppage of supplies from a Rajasthan-based plant. In the south, however, an oversupply situation led prices to decline by INR21/bag following a INR19/bag drop in January.
