US January shipments up 12% YoY

Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico in January 2015 increased by about 12 per cent YoY to 5.4Mt, latest data from the US Geological Survey confirms.

The leading Portland cement-producing states in January were Texas, California, Missouri, Florida and Alabama, in descending order. The leading consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Arizona, in descending order) received about 48 per cent of the January shipments.

Clinker production totalled 5.4Mt in January, up by about 17 per cent from the output in January 2014. The leading clinker-producing states in January were Texas, Missouri, California, Alabama and Florida, in descending order

January 2015 imports of cement and clinker of 572,000t were almost 41per cent  higher than those recorded in January 2014.
