Unacem saw its domestic cement sales increase by 0.3 per cent in the first three months of 2015, compared to the same period in 2014. The company recorded cement sales of PEN449.4m (EUR132.69m US$144.20m) in 1Q15.

Sales costs also dropped 2.6 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2014, when leftover stocks of imported clinker were used which were more expensive. Clinker production dslipped 12.8 per cent in 1Q15, compared with the same period in 2014.

Meanwhile, cement production rose 0.9 per cent YoY in the 1Q15. Demand for cement in the south and north of the country declined steeply, the company reported.

Unacem achieved a 51.1 per cent market share over the past summer, compared to 49.5 per cent in the previous quarter.
